”Meet Traian Zaionciuc of 2 Wheels Deluxe” a VoyageLA review
Today we’d like to introduce you to Traian Zaionciuc.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Traian. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
2 WHEELS DELUXE was born out my own passion for motorcycles and open roads, and my love affair with the fascinating urban and natural landscapes of America.
My journey on 2 wheels started about 45 years ago in my native and picturesque Romania: a small and beautiful country the size of Oregon located over the Carpathian Mountains and bordered by the Black Sea. I travelled around Romania a few times, on foot in the mountains and on 2 wheels on the open roads. I traveled also through the Eastern block learning how generous mother nature was with the Eastern part of Europe and how friendly people are no matter where they are from, the language they speak, the government they follow, their sex, the color they have or religion they believe. Above all, I learned that the passion of riding on 2 wheels brings people closer and more passionate in sharing their stories about their adventures.
Almost 30 years ago, my journey on 2 wheels continued in the USA. It is a dream come true to explore the spectacular California coastline, and many other unique and truly beautiful States that make up this vast country. There might be similar places in Europe but they are not as grandiose and spectacular as they are here.
My journey on 2 wheels really started to feel more like part of the “American Legend” in 2003 when I saddled up for the first time in the comfortable seat of my first Harley Davidson: a 100 year anniversary Road King. I joined the Orange County Harley Davidson Owners Group. Thanks to the nice people of this chapter and the friendly atmosphere, I learned about what California and western states can offer: scenic places, friendly people, freedom of the open roads and so much more.
It was about 6-7 years ago, in 2010, when I had the opportunity to share my passion of riding in the Wild West with other riders from Europe: France, Russia, Italy, Spain and others. This was the time when 2 WHEELS DELUXE was born: providing comfortable Touring Motorcycles for rent and Accommodations for Riders in places I know, I love and I have personally experienced.
Riding is much more than visiting places and meeting new people. It’s about making that intimate connection with your surroundings that is only possible on two wheels. Pure sensory bliss. That is my experience. And it’s the experience I want to share with my clients, my friends.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh no….it wasn’t a smooth road. Trying to provide a high standard of service and quality of equipment and to maintain this standard, is challenging. I started with a certain standard and my clients became my friends. They come over and over again because they know that I’ll never let them down. At 2 WHEELS DELUXE they find friendly service, support, advice, well maintained touring motorcycles equipped the way a rider would expect.
It is a challenge also to maintain these standards no matter how far the riders travel. On the touring motorcycles we provide, the riders will go to Mexico, South Dakota, Wyoming and other places on 3000 to 5000 miles trips.
Obstacles? Yes, they were there: lacking financial support and encouragement from banks. Advertising our services in competition with a much larger company is also a challenge.
After all, “whatever does not kill us, makes us stronger.”
Please tell us about 2 Wheels Deluxe.
We have available for rent luxurious touring motorcycles for long rides: Honda Goldwing, Harley Electra Glide Ultra Limited, Indian Roadmaster. They are all equipped with the accessories any rider would like for a long ride: highway foot pegs, backrest for the rider, rear rack for luggage, GPS, saddle bag liners, toll road fee transponder, etc.
For short rides we provide 150cc Motorized scooters: Vespa and Honda PCX. The motorized scooters from our fleet are all equipped with a rear trunk for extra storage and cradle charger for the iPhone.
We provide also All-Inclusive Tours guided or self-guided. The All-Inclusive Tour includes a custom designed itinerary to fit the client’s time frame and budget with accommodations in places we have discovered and experienced personally. Most of these places are biker friendly, well known by bikers and a bit different than the regular standard places to stay. The tours could be guided when one of our experienced guides will lead the group on the daily itinerary. On a self guided tour, the itinerary is downloaded into the Multilanguage GPS provided and the riders will follow the daily itinerary. A booklet is also provided with detailed explanations and guidance for the daily itinerary.
We provide a personal and friendly service which sets us apart from the other competitors. Before picking up the rental motorcycles, during the paperwork protocol, our clients enjoy a coffee, juice, snacks, while we learn about each other and share our riding stories. When they drop-off the bike, most of the time we serve cold beverages. We provide free airport pick-up and drop-off. We also deliver or pick-up the rental bike at the hotels in the area.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
When my dad bought for me my first motorized 2 wheels: a moped 49cc. I was 14 years old. When my dad bought for me my first big motorcycle: a vintage Royal Enfield Interceptor 750cc. I was 18 years old.
